Web Apps For Designers
Web apps are becoming more and more popular with designers because they are more flexible compared to the desktop versions. They allow designers who work in different locations to do what they need to do without being stuck in one place. There are so many web applications available for photo editing, fonts, colours, organising work and much more.
I have compiled a list of some of the best web apps that are available to use and that will be very useful to web designers of all levels. I know I have found these useful for my web design projects so hopefully you will too.
Basecamp:

Basecamp is an online application for managing all types of projects with and easy to understand and use interface.
Dropbox:

This is one the best web applications around because it allows designers to drag and drop their files into their dropbox and store them for viewing and sharing. This is an easy and quick way to show clients designs or mock-ups online. There is also the program to download to use on your Mac or PC and it is free for 2GB but if you want any more you will have to pay.
Colour Lovers:

Colour Lovers is by far the best colour scheme tool for web designers offering thousands of colour schemes with the ability to download them for Photoshop, Illustrator and other design programs. Once signed up you can download the colour palettes, patterns and create your own to share with other users.
Freshbooks:

Freshbooks is tool for time keeping and invoicing for freelancers. It is ideal for project-based work with the ability to keep track of expenses, keep time logs and much more. There is a free version to try before you buy but is worth it if you have a lot of contract jobs to work on.
Adobe Browser Lab:

Adobe Browserlab is an online application, which allows users to view how their website will look in the major browsers including IE 6-8, FireFox and Safari on the major operating systems. The site will display a full screenshot of the website in real time.
Type Tester:

Type Tester is a free online tool for comparing fonts on the screen. Users can compare three different fonts to see which will look the best on their websites. Type Tester lists all the fonts available for each operating system and is designed to make life easier for designers.
Carbon Made:

Carbon Made is a website, which will allow freelancers to show off their work to other users. It features over 100,000 portfolios and you can even upload your own images to your personal portfolio.
Pixlr:

Pixlr is a free online image editor, which has a similar layout to Photoshop so Photoshop will be familiar with its functions and layout. There is even an add-on for FireFox, which will allow you to grab images from websites to edit in pixlr.

Another great web app for designers to check out is Intervals. It’s especially helpful for designers who need to track their time accurately.
