As jQuery is an ever increasingly popular tool among many web designers, for the new starters it can be quite difficult to get your head around. Many designers first choice of jQuery implementation is the Slider effect, allowing smooth slide transitions horizontally or vertically between images of, for example portfolio work.

While jQuery can be albeit a bit overwhelming when starting out, there are various examples on the web that will help you get off the ground running. One very popular jQuery Slider is the Easy Slider. With several examples of various slider effects and controls it makes an ideal starting point for many designers looking to use jQuery.
