Safari and HTML5

Last week Apple released a few new pages on Apple.com showcasing the abilities of HTML5 and CSS3. I believe there are 1 or 2 reasons for them doing this. 1. To show the way forward in web design (maybe taking a pop at flash) and 2. For the new upcoming Safari 5 web browser rumored to have a lot of new additional HTML5 and CSS3 features.

When visiting the Apple HTML5 Showcase website, if you don’t browse the internet with Safari by default then you will be direct to download Safari 4 even though Chrome and Firefox would be able to view these demos. The are several demos available to play with including Video, Typography, A Gallery, Transitions, Audio, VR and a 360.

All in all its a nice little demo that shows the how development of HTML5 and CSS3 is progressing. If you find a spare 5 minutes I recommend giving it a go. Visit: http://www.apple.com/html5/
