Twitter’s @Anywhere Platform
This week, the CEO of Twitter Evan Williams announced a new platform called @anywhere, at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

The new platform will allow third party websites to integrate Twitter into their existing services. Users will be able to log into any of the participating sites using their Twitter account and even follow Twitter accounts associated with each website without having to navigate away from the page. This will give the opportunity for publishers to find more followers and bring more Twitter users into the sites, and even make non-Twitter users aware of this service.
Websites with @anywhere will have highlighted links to a Twitter account and when users move their mouse over each link, a box will appear showing the latest tweets from that account. The participating sites will include Amazon, eBay, Digg, The Huffington Post and The New York Times, with more big names likely to participate.

Owners of the website will be able to use a few lines of JavaScript in the code to integrate @anywhere, so there won’t be any need to learn an API (Application Programming Interface).
Twitter’s main reason for launching this service is to try and lower the barrier of using Twitter. Since the growth of Twitter has been getting slower in the past few months, it makes sense for them to try and bring the service to more users.
At the moment Twitter haven’t revealed when this will start to be implemented into any of the websites but visit their @anywhere Twitter account for future updates regarding the service.
