Happy Birthday Firefox!
Back in 2004 the internet was a firm part of everybody’s daily life. Firefox was born out of people’s desire to use the internet without having to worry about viruses, pop ups or spyware, as well as personalise and share the software with anyone at anytime.
Users and developers around the world have embraced Firefox with its multiple add-ons designed to make using the internet easier and more enjoyable. Today Firefox holds a quarter of the market share, with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (unfortunately) still being the most popular.
Mozilla are celebrating the milestone by throwing parties around the world. The event is called “Light the World with Firefox” and will involve shining the Firefox logo on landmarks in Paris, Rome, San Francisco and Tokyo. For more information visit www.spreadfirefox.com/5years/en-US/.
They’ve also done a really nice animation to celebrate the event:
